ESTATE JEWELRY

The term estate refers to an item that was previously owned. Usually, this refers to antique jewelry, but it is possible (and also correct) to use it to refer to vintage jewelry.

VINTAGE JEWELRY

Here is the general rule to remember: Something antique is also vintage, but something vintage isn't necessarily antique. Vintage refers to something that is from an earlier generation. Antique refers to something that is over 100 years old.

ANTIQUE JEWELRY

An object of considerable age valued for its aesthetic or historical significance. In the antique jewelry trade, the term refers to objects more than 100 years old. Some dealers are attempting to lower the standard of an antique jewelry. They believe that items over 50 years old should be considered an antique but this would still be defined as vintage.
