What Can I Sell to Joseph Diamonds by Mail?
Mail-in transactions are considered individually.
Depending on the items and transaction, Joseph Diamonds may approve mail-in evaluations for:
- Fine jewelry
- Gold jewelry
- Platinum jewelry
- Diamond engagement rings
- Loose diamonds
- Estate and inherited jewelry
- Designer jewelry
- Antique and vintage jewelry
- Rolex watches
- Other luxury watches
- Natural sapphires, rubies and emeralds
- Select coins and precious-metal items
- Other valuables approved by Joseph Diamonds
This list does not mean that every item or shipment will qualify for the mail-in program.
Joseph Diamonds determines mail-in eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
Gold & Silver Bullion Requires Prior Approval
Joseph Diamonds purchases gold coins, gold bars, silver coins and silver bullion, but bullion should never be shipped to us without prior approval.
The appropriate transaction method can depend on the type of bullion, quantity, value and other circumstances.
For larger precious-metal holdings, we may recommend a private in-person appointment at our Overland Park office or make other arrangements with you directly.
If you're considering selling a substantial quantity of gold or silver bullion, contact Joseph Diamonds first.
Do not place a large bullion shipment in the mail based solely on information on this website.

How the Joseph Diamonds Mail-In Process Works
1. Contact Joseph Diamonds First
Before shipping anything, contact us and describe the items you're considering selling.
The easiest way to begin is to send clear photographs.
You can also call us at 913-242-7150.
2. We Review Your Items
We'll review the information and photographs you provide and determine whether the items are appropriate for a mail-in transaction.
Depending on what you have, we may ask for additional photographs or information such as:
- Diamond grading reports
- Watch reference numbers
- Watch box and papers
- Jewelry maker's marks
- Precious-metal markings
- Gemological reports
- Receipts or previous documentation
- Coin or bullion information
3. Receive Approval & Shipping Instructions
If Joseph Diamonds approves your items for mail-in evaluation, we will provide instructions for proceeding.
Do not ship your valuables until you have received approval and shipping instructions from Joseph Diamonds.
4. Your Items Are Examined in Person
Photographs can help us determine whether we're interested in an item, but a final evaluation requires physical examination and verification.
Once an approved shipment is received, we examine the items and verify the characteristics relevant to their value.
5. Receive an Offer
If Joseph Diamonds is interested in purchasing your items after examination, we'll provide an offer.
The final offer may differ from any preliminary discussion based on photographs because condition, authenticity, weight, diamond characteristics, precious-metal content and other important details cannot always be verified remotely.
6. You Decide
There is no obligation to accept our offer.
If you choose to sell, we'll provide instructions for completing the transaction and payment.
If you decline, return arrangements will be handled according to the terms established for your approved mail-in transaction.
Why Do We Require Approval Before Shipping?
Valuable property should not be shipped casually.
Requiring prior contact allows us to determine whether the items are appropriate for our buying program and discuss the best way to handle the transaction before anything leaves your possession.
It also allows us to address questions involving:
- Shipment value
- Shipping method
- Insurance requirements
- Packaging
- Documentation
- Large or unusually valuable transactions
- Items that may be better evaluated in person
For certain transactions, an in-person appointment may simply be the better option.
Mail-In Jewelry Evaluations
Fine jewelry is one of the primary categories we consider for approved mail-in transactions.
Joseph Diamonds purchases:
- Diamond jewelry
- Gold and platinum jewelry
- Estate jewelry
- Inherited jewelry
- Designer jewelry
- Antique and vintage jewelry
- Natural gemstone jewelry
Jewelry should be evaluated as a complete piece whenever appropriate rather than automatically being treated simply as scrap precious metal.
Designer, antique and estate pieces may have additional value based on maker, diamonds, gemstones, craftsmanship, age, rarity and current secondary-market demand.

Mail-In Diamond Evaluations
Joseph Diamonds considers approved mail-in transactions involving loose natural diamonds, engagement rings and other diamond jewelry.
If your diamond has a GIA or other laboratory grading report, send a clear photograph of the report along with photographs of the diamond or jewelry.
A grading report is helpful but is not necessarily required for us to consider your item.
Mail-In Rolex & Luxury Watch Evaluations
We also consider approved mail-in transactions for Rolex and other desirable luxury watches.
When sending photographs, include:
- Front of the watch
- Back of the watch
- Bracelet and clasp
- Box
- Warranty card or papers
- Extra links
- Service records or receipts, if available
Do not worry if you do not have every accessory. We can consider many watches without their original box or papers.
Mail-In Estate & Inherited Jewelry
If you've inherited jewelry but do not live near Kansas City, the mail-in program may provide an option for certain approved pieces.
Before shipping an entire estate collection, send photographs or contact us first.
Depending on the size, value and contents of the estate, we may recommend sending selected items, scheduling an in-person appointment or discussing another approach.
You do not need to identify every item yourself before contacting us.

Should I Mail an Extremely Valuable Item?
Contact us first.
The higher the value or complexity of a transaction, the more important it is to determine the appropriate method before shipping.
For unusually valuable jewelry, significant diamonds, rare watches, large bullion holdings or substantial estate collections, Joseph Diamonds may recommend an in-person appointment or another arrangement rather than a standard mail-in transaction.
Never ship an unusually valuable item without discussing it with us first.
Prefer to Sell in Person?
If you're in Kansas City, Overland Park or the surrounding area, you're welcome to schedule a private appointment at our office instead.
Many clients prefer meeting face-to-face, particularly when selling substantial jewelry collections, diamonds, watches, gold or bullion.
